Kochi has a storied past as a significant spice trading center, often referred to as the “Queen of the Arabian Sea.” The last twenty years have seen a notable development in the IT industry of Cochin, one of the largest seaports in India. This is the part of India reached by Vasco da Gama at the end of the fifteenth century, and it is here that he died and was buried. The city has recently been the subject of a vast energy renewal project by Cochin Smart Mission Limited. In particular, the lighting has been redesigned in the main city street and its parallel pedestrian walkway alongside the sea, named after Abdul Kalam, in the Jew Town with its artistic and local shops and, lastly, around the exterior of the Fort, which dates from the period of Portuguese domination. For each of these areas, a different product by Neri S.p.A. has been chosen, with the aim of enhancing the different environments, throwing into relief the specific character of each.
